Amigos II

My buddy Rangle

Then there are the people of Mexico. Rangle at our favorite tienda who always repeats the amount due, counts out the change and helps us with our Spanish. The lady who waits on us at our favorite stuffed potato restaurant, pastry shop, or the owner/performer at Los Arcos Jalisco serenading us with easy listening Mexican music.

MMM papas rellenos
kind of like beef stroganoff on a baked potato

Amigos

Making friends is one of the nicest things about cruising. The differences in economic status, political convictions, age, religious persuasions, nationalities seem to fade away when you are cruising.

It can be lonely, sometimes you meet someone and know there is a “click” a connection, but one of you is leaving the next day. You know you will probably see them again, as you are both heading the same direction, and you promise to get together at the next anchorage. Sometimes you do, sometimes you just keep missing each other.

Missing girlfriends is one of the downsides to traveling, but when you meet a kindred spirit, bonds are formed quickly. But then, a day or two and they are gone. Hoping to see them again down the line, or maybe next year, but possibly never. Missing my friends and family.
